Donostia Chess Festival

Art 1 – This tournament will be played using 9 round Round Robin system from 7^th to 16^th July 2009. The games will be played in the Plenary Hall of the San Sebastian City Hall.

Art 2 – The rate of play will be 90 minutes per player and game plus 30 seconds per move.

Art 3 – The games of Tournament Diputacion Foral and Euskal Xake Eskola will start at 16:30.

Art 4 – The games of Tournament Donostia Capital Cultural 2016 and Kutxa will start at 17:00.

Art 5 – The last round of all tournaments will start at 16:00.

Art 6 – Clocks will be started at the scheduled time. Players who arrive at the chessboard more than 60 minutes after the scheduled start will lose their games.

Art 7 – Each tournament players will choose two players for the Appeals Committee (titular and reserve). The Appelas Committee of one tournament will consist of 3 members of the other tournaments.

Art 8 – Any claim to an arbiter’s decision must be sumbitted to the Appeals Committee in writing, not more than one hour after the end of the relevant round.

Art 9 – Players cannot leave the playing area without permission from the arbiters.

Art 10 – The tie-break system will be the following:

• In order to decide only the first place:

  • If there are only two players tied for the first place, they will play two 5 minute games. If they are still tied, they will play an Armaggedon game (5 minutes for white and 4 for black; if they draw, then black wins)

  • If there are more than two players tied for the first place, they will play 5 minute leagues, until the tie is broken or until there are only two players; in that case, they will play an Armaggedon game.

• For the other places, the player with higher number of games with black will win.

• If they are still tied, the player with higher number of won games will win.

• If they are still tied, the player with higher Sonen-Berger will win.

• If they are still tied, the prizes will be shared among the tied players.

Art 11 – The closing ceremony will be at 21:00 of 16^th july and every player is required to be present.

Art 12 – This tournament will be ruled by these regulations and by the current FIDE rules, which apply to all players during the whole tournament.
